5 Yoga Poses to Relieve a Seasonal Cold

Open your chest,  clean your passageways, and improve your circulation with these five yoga poses. These poses are held for 5-10 breathes depending on your own personal experience. Relax into these poses and notice how you feel before and after your practice. Help rid seasonal cold symptoms with yoga at home.

Bridge Pose (Setu Bandha Sarvangasana)

Bridge pose will open the heart center and release any built up mucas in the chest. All while increasing circulation to your upper torso. This pose is an effective way to send fresh blood to your head.

Bow Pose (Dhanurasana)

Bow pose stretches your neck, chest, stomach and back. Opening your chest will lead to better breathing. Are your feeling restless and unable to sleep due to your cold symptoms? Try holding this pose for 5-7 breaths. You will feel relaxed and free once complete.

Camel Pose (Ustrasana)

Camel pose will open your back and chest to further allow you to breathe clearly through your passageways. Ease into this pose as you will stretch your entire front body. Remember not to over exert yourself.

Plow Pose (Halasana)

This pose is very therapeutic for sinusitis and headaches. If you have tight hamstrings this pose might not feel so good. You can always modify by reaching your knees towards you ears. You will feel calmer after holding plow pose for 5 breathes. Try this pose before you lay down to rest.

Headstand (Salamba Sirsasana)

Headstand is a more advanced yoga pose. You can always try this pose up against a wall until you feel comfortable without it. You will feel incredibly energized after this pose. By doing this pose you allow the stagnant blood to rush from your toes all the way down to your head.
